A surveillance camera caught a woman pulling up her jeep in front of a dumpster behind a Napa Auto Parts in Coachella, California, throwing a plastic bag which turned out to have 7 newborn puppies.

In the footage, she can be seen coming out of the jeep with the bag in her hand, walking towards the dumpster, lifting the bin cover and carelessly throwing the bad into the bin.

Then, she went back to the jeep and drove away.

Thankfully, John, a passerby, happened to find the bag in the trash within the next hour and took it inside the store. Had he not found the bag within a few more minutes, the puppies would have definitely died in the unbearable 90-degree heat.

“There is no excuse for dumping puppies,” Animal Services Cmdr. Chris Mayer said in a statement. “Especially in today’s age when we or other shelters would be willing to get these animals to foster parents or rescue partners. This was a shameful act.”

Now, the officers and concerned authorities are on the look for the woman and requesting everyone to help identify her. Sheriff’s investigators, animals services officials, and the district’s attorney’s officials are jointly working to get justice for these innocent puppies.

Thankfully, all seven puppies are expected to be fine. Please contact the Department of Animal Services if you have any information regarding the woman.
