Maisie Green is an 89-year-old woman who’s favourite thing to do is knit! Perhaps there’s one other love that matches it. That’s her love for dogs! This is the reason why she thought of an amazing idea of combining these two. She started knitting coats and blankets for pups in need.
Green donates her knitted bundle of love to Dogs Trust, a rehoming centre in Basildon, England.
It has been estimated that she has knitted up to 450 coats and blankets for the dogs.
It’s nothing burdensome to her. She does it leisurely while watching television and it keeps her conveniently occupied. A coat takes her one day to knit, while a blanket takes about three days.
Needless to say, she gets a lot of love from the furry residents at the rescue centre.
Being in a shelter is often an unusual and scary experience for a pup. Snuggling in a warm blanket is perhaps the only comfort they can find. Green’s creations make them feel safe and warm.
“Dogs Trust is the Uk’s largest dog welfare charity. Through its network of 20 Rehoming Centres across the UK (and now one in Ireland) the charity cares for over 16,000 stray, unwanted and abandoned dogs each year. Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy, and will never put a healthy dog to sleep,” their Facebook reads.
