Why is it that the most fascinating things in the world come to you so difficult?
When Saurabh Desai, a wildlife photographer, posted a pictures of the Spiti Valley of Northern India, people online were a little confused. It was just a simple picture of a snow-covered crag.
Except, there was something hidden in there.
In truth, Desai was actually trying to capture a live image of a snow leopard, a native creature of the region. Snow leopards are popular for their camouflaged coat that makes them almost invisible.
Just take a look at this picture.
Have you spotted him yet?
If not, you’re not the only one. The cats, also known as “Shan” among locals, are someone who leave everyone scratching their heads.
“I wanted this animal to be captured the way people have described it,” Desai said. “They say that often they don’t see the ‘Shan’ but ‘Shan’ always sees them.”
For those who still can’t see him, here’s the answer.
Has his staring eyes have you shivering yet?
Sometimes, these leopards are quite easy to spot, especially in Desai’s other pictures. But they are so good at camouflaging themselves to the background that it’s quite difficult and rare that you see them out in open space.
But Desai isn’t one to give up easy.
“I spent almost three years in search of this amazing cat,” he said. “When I found it up and close to me, I was speechless.”
To say we are grateful to his dedication would be an understatement. His pictorial documentation aren’t just gorgeous, but they also allow the entire world to see the beauty that often lies hidden in between.
