Meet Khemjira Klongsanun. He’s a running enthusiast from Bangkok, Thailand.
Running in competitions might be important for her, but she knows that some things in life are more important than setting a record time.
Only last week, Klongsanun was participating in a local marathon when something grabbed her attention. About 7 miles into the 26-mile run, she saw a tiny puppy on the roadside, helpless without owner or mother.
Instead of leaving the puppy and going her way, Klongsanun decided to put a hold on the race. She stopped in front of the puppy and scooped in her arms.
No one would expect that she did so much more.
For the remaining 19 miles, Klongsanun carried the puppy in her arms and ran.
She was now safe and in good hands.
Klongsanun could have handed the puppy to a willing spectator or a race official, but she chose not to.
The puppy remained peacefully in Klongsanun’s arms to the end.
They crossed the finish line together.
However, this wasn’t the end of for the adorable partnership between the duo.
Klongsanun simply couldn’t leave the puppy. So she took him home to be part of her family forever.
She took some much-needed rest along the way.
She named the puppy, NongChom and took her for a checkup with a vet.
NongChom met his siblings at his new home.
He got along so well with his siblings.
The once-homeless puppy is now surrounded with so much love.
Klongsanun even went back to where she found NongChom to look for his siblings and mother. But it seems, NongChom had been truly alone.
But NongChom has received his happy ending. He is home at last.
Abandoned dogs have amazing rescue stories- but surely none can beat NongChom’s story. Klongsanun might have lost time in the race, but that’s compared to the what she found. And that’s a lifetime of love that now lies ahead.
