This is it.
This is what heaven looks like.
On the islands of Turks and Caicos, one can have the best time in the tropical beaches, out looking the endless ocean with the perfect drink in your hand. But what makes this place even more splendid is Potcake Place K-9 Rescue.
A non-profit organization located in the Grace Bay area of Providenciales in the island, it allows tourists visiting there to volunteer to walk pups and doggies around the beach. You can drop in at any time and make a puppy’s day!
“We’ll give you everything you need, you just need to supply some TLC,” the rescue writes on its website.
What the charity is doing is quite remarkable. Since most of the dogs in their shelter used to homeless or abandoned, Potcake is saving the young pups and dogs in from a place full of loneliness, neglect and struggle. With tourists dropping in from time to time at the shelter, the rescued dogs get to hang out with the best possible people, people from all over the world! It gets them used to meeting new people and new surroundings. This also gives them a good practice for the future after they are adopted!
The charity’s name ‘Potcake’ originated from the Bahamas and the Turks for the stray dogs there because people used to feed caked remains from their cooking pots to them.
“Potcakes are rescued from around the islands of the Turks and Caicos,” the rescue writes. “Litters of puppies, as well as individual pups, are found wandering without their littermates. They may be found by tourists while they are out exploring, or locals in their backyard or while working on construction sites.”
The dogs in the shelter grow to be between 35 to 75 pounds, varying according to their sizes and breed.
The timing for interested tourists is routined by Potcake Place’s Puppy Socialization Walks that determined that Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m to 12:30 p.m. is a good time. Blessed with the perfect temperature and the best views, the staff thought that it would be the best time for the puppies to go out on walks.
If you happen to fall in love with your lovely companion, you can even take them home with you! In fact, many of the doggie’s have been adopted from Potcake Place from the very tourists who took them out to hang out with them. You will be responsible for flying the pup home but you will get all the necessary information from the rescue centre.
Vacation with adorable puppies–seriously, what are you waiting for?
