When a beluga whale with a fitted harness arrived at the open waters around Hammerfest, Norway a couple of weeks ago, people were a little surprised.
The whale’s true identity is shrouded in mystery but some say that he was trained by the Russian navy. A place he probably fled from. Since then he’s been hovering in the place.
But recently, something interesting has been found. The little creature is quite generous.
It all started when Ina Mansika and her friends were out and about in Hammerfest waterfront. All they wanted to do was confirm all the rumors they heard about the whale. Was he truly real?
But fate it quite twisted, we suppose.
The whale was there alright, but he was going to do something for Mansika too.
“We laid down on the dock to look at it and hopefully get the chance to pat it,” Mansika said. “I had forgotten to close my jacket pocket and my phone fell in the ocean. We assumed it would be gone forever, until the whale dove back down and came back a few moments later with my phone in its mouth!”
We wouldn’t have believed her if the entire thing hadn’t been captured in video!
To say Mansika was amazed would be an understatement.
“Everyone was so surprised. We almost didn’t believe what we saw,” she said. “I was super happy and thankful that I got my phone back.”
Sadly, the phone was too damaged to work because of the water. Yet Mansika was still grateful. “I love animals!” she said. “The whale is so kind.”
The beluga whale’s mystery is still unsolved. Where did he come from? Why is he here? Regardless, the authorities are keeping an eye on him, taking care of the little creature until they form a plan. Apparently, rescuers are considering relocating him to a sanctuary in Iceland where he will be around his kind of creatures and be repaid for his generosity!
