Daya, the pregnant stray Pit Bull was strolling all alone down the streets of York, South Carolina, on a significantly chilly day when animal control officers picked her up. However, they didn’t take her to a shelter. Instead, they asked a local rescue to take her in. They thought it would be better if the mama-to-be gave birth at a comfortable rescue than a crowded shelter.
Halfway There Rescue immediately agreed to help Daya. Unfortunately, all of Daya’s babies died in utero and, she instead got a bad infection that needed surgery to recover. Fortunately, her surgery went just fine, after which, a foster took her in.
Although Daya was now safe, she was missing something important—her babies. After staff noticed Daya taking socks and toys and acting like they were her babies, they were heartbroken.
A few days later, the rescue found an orphaned puppy named Raisin who had a ruptured eye which needed removing. She too was definitely in need of a loving mother.
Seeing the perfect opportunity to fill the voids within two dogs who were in desperate need of love, the rescue decided to give Daya the tiny puppy she had been wanting to raise. Daya and Raisin bonded right away! They didn’t let each other go and cuddled all the time. They were really helping each other recover from the wounds.
Both of them were taken in by another foster where they continued to love each other unconditionally. However, as they grew up, both of them started drifting apart. Raisin was now old enough to find her own way, so, her foster family decided to adopt her. Now, Raisin even has her older dog brother named Charlie and she gets along very well with him.
Daya, on the other hand, went on to live with her original foster family who decided to adopt her as well! She has a doggy sibling who has severe anxiety, but she does her best to help him. They are inseparable!
Both Daya and Raisin were there for each other when they wanted company the most and now both of them are doing great just because of each other.
