A few weeks ago, a man spotted Saul wandering along a street in London in the rain, injured and in desperate need of help. He immediately contacted RSPCA and he was rushed to RSPCA’s Putney Animal Hospital.
“He was in a very sorry state … and had discharge coming from his eyes and nose and looked very poorly indeed,” Caroline Allen, London veterinary director for the RSPCA, said in a press release. “We believe he was involved in a road traffic accident as we found he had injured his jaw, teeth and one eye.”
Saul looked as though he was beat up when he first arrived at the hospital. All the hospital staffers were dedicated to get him medicated and treated. As he began to heal, however, they began to discover something unique about him: no matter how good or bad he felt, his face always looked the grumpiest.
While it was unsure if Saul’s face was like that ever since he was born or it is because of his traumatic past, it’s sure to stay there no matter what. While Saul opened up to everyone, he showed his sweetest and most affectionate side to everyone—only, no one would believe he was like that!
He didn’t show any other expression even when he was cuddled up with his friends.
Or just observing things around him. His face just doesn’t look happy.
And, to add to all the sass, he even sticks his tongue out sometimes!
“Despite his constant scowl, Saul’s actually really sweet and friendly,” Allen said. “He’s recovering really well from his injuries and we hope he will soon be ready to move to our cattery at Southall to find a new home as we don’t rehome directly from the hospital.”
Everyone has fallen in love with Saul. He is now all healed and ready to be adopted to a beautiful forever home.
“We’re sure someone will fall in love with this glum-looking puss,” Allen said. “In fact, we think he could be a bit of a star. We’re sure he’d give Grumpy Cat a run for his money — that’s why we’re affectionately nicknaming him Grumpy Cat 2.0!”
