Thank God for dog shelters! They take care of animals when some people can’t or won’t care for them. However, no matter how inviting shelters can be, they can’t match the comfort of a forever home.

All pets deserve caring families who can give them all the love and affection. The tragedy is that many dogs end up waiting in the shelters for a very long time. One such dog is Bubba Jr., who spent 94 days at the Lewis & Clark Humane Society in Helena, Montana.

But then something miraculous happened! His favourite volunteer gave him the best gift. He brought Bubba Jr home!

The shelter shared an adorable message on Facebook, through Bubba Jr.’s perspective, and needless to say it garnered a lot of attention. Within a few weeks, the post got over 84,000 reactions and over 20,000 shares.

The Facebook post reads:

It’s Bubba Jr. again. It’s day 94 here at the shelter and something feels a little different – my favourite volunteer came in for our daily walk and snuggles, that was pretty normal. But then we did something different; my staff friends brought me up to the front desk! I never get to go there and pats and saying “Goodbye,” they are silly, I’ll see them tomorrow.

My favourite volunteer seemed really excited today, he kept asking me if I was ready! Ready for what? He was signing a lot of papers, I can’t read but they seemed important.

After lots of pictures and hugs from my shelter friends I headed out the front door, I never get to do that! My volunteer put me in the car and we headed out of the shelter.

He keeps telling me we’re going home! I don’t know what that means but I can’t wait to find out. I’m going to miss all the friends I have made, but I can’t wait to see what happens next!
