It’s devastating to see the torture and cruelty that humans subject animals to. When you get a pet, you need to make sure that you can be responsible towards them till the very end. Sadly, there are still so many pets living in horrid conditions, suffering for a big part of their lives. Domino and his brother were also found in such conditions.
They were living in an absolutely foul condition when their owner went away for two weeks. She was so irresponsible that she had left the cats alone without any food or water. The poor cats were starving and dehydrated when someone finally discovered them like that.
When the RSPCA arrived at the scene, they were horrified by the conditions the cats had been living in for weeks.
“It was a shocking example of animal neglect, with the poor cats given no chance in a locked, filthy property without even basic sustenance,” Gemma Cooper, an inspector with the RSPCA, said in a press release.
Sadly, by the time the cats were found, Domino’s brother was so sick that he passed away. Rescuers rushed Domino to a vet in time. The kitty proved to be a real fighter, as he pulled through and survived despite living in such a sad state for so long.
Domino was so happy to meet his rescuers, especially after having no human interaction for a fortnight.
“Simply, there’s no excuse for this sort of neglect,” Cooper said.
The cats’ owner, Celia Hart, was arrested and charged with two Animal Welfare Act offenses and was sentenced to jail.
“The defendant showed significant remorse for her actions,” Cooper said. “This case highlights how important it is for owners to seek appropriate help for animals if their situation means they are facing problems in providing them with appropriate care.”
Domino is finally doing well. After spending some time in the RSPCA, he was adopted, and is loving his new life now.
