Losing your best friend is heartbreaking; even for animals.
Alesana and Sen were inseparable best buddies for years. From living together to constantly playing and cuddling together, their bond was unbreakable. But as fate has it, Alesana suffered from cancer. And, on a sad Christmas morning, passed away at the young age of 8.
The family suffered a great loss after her death, but it was incomparable to what Sen was going through. What’s sadder is that one can’t explain to a cat what happened to his friend and what death is.
“I think Sen knows she is gone,” Emma Pearce, Sen’s mom, said. “She often sits at my window next to my front door just looking out for hours on end. She will also walk around the house looking into rooms where Alesana would often sit.”
So when the people finally received the poor cat’s ashes, paw prints and tufts of her fur, Pearce decided to use it to comfort Sen.
She was shown Alesana’s tuft of fur.
Her reaction was heartbreaking as well as heartwarming.
“When she saw Alesana’s fur she instantly started to lick it and rub her face on it,” Pearce said.
Doubtlessly, she recognized her late best friend’s fur. The family hopes that it will help the mourning cat to move on.
“We try and give her as much love and cuddles as we can so she doesn’t feel too lonely,” Pearce said.
No matter how many times Sen is shown Alesana’s fur, he still reacts the exact way he did the first time. Pearce is planning to frame it to remember the lovely cat. Alesana’s ashes is kept in an urn that is wrapped with her collar. This way, the family will never forget all the sweet memories she gave them.
