At the time of 4-month-old Beau’s adoption, his family was surprised to find that he acted more like a dog than a bunny. His favourite things to do were- following his family around the house, cuddling with them on the couch and being near them as much as possible. His family couldn’t help but fall in love with his gentle personality and already considered him as a family member.
“When I first met Beau, he basically chose me to be his owner, he was so beautiful and had such a great personality and followed me around until I adopted him,” Scarlett Darby, Beau’s mom, told The Dodo. “I’m so glad he’s a part of our family because he’s just so cute and has the best personality of any rabbit I’ve ever met!”
A few months later. Beau family decided to provide him with a furry animal friend- an adorable cat named Ninji. Initially, Beau’s mom was skeptical about the decision, worried that they wouldn’t get along. But she was happy to find out that she had absolutely nothing to worry about.
Beau and Ninji hit it right off from the moment they met. They loved hanging out and playing together around the house. Darby, their mom was euphoric that they had found a real friend in each other but could have never guessed just how they would learn to love each other. This was until Ninji discovered Beau’s enclosure.
“I had the door of Beau’s cage open whilst I put some food in for him and Ninji decided to jump in,” Darby said. “I was nervous at first but soon realized that Ninji was more interested in Beau’s house than Beau!”
Beau appeared to be totally unaffected by Ninji being in his spot. In fact, he seemed to enjoy Ninji’s presence. When the family adopted yet another cat named Nibbler, he began to love being in the same enclosure too. Before long, all three furry siblings started spending time together, having no clue that the enclosure was really just meant for bunnies. To these adorable siblings, they were all the same.
It may look weird, seeing a bunch of cats hanging out with a bunny in an enclosure…but for this furry family it’s just spending a normal day.
“If he’s not happy with the cats being in his territory, he does let them know by thumping/kicking his feet, but usually he’s excited that his cat siblings are sitting with him,” Darby said.
To make matters even better, the furry siblings welcomed yet another member, a little kitten named Lola. Lola developed a loving relationship with Beau just as her cat brothers did, and loves hanging out with all her siblings in the enclosure.
Even though Beau and his cat siblings are never left alone without a human caretaker, it’s evident they are there to take care of each other. Beau feels there’s absolutely no difference between him and his furry siblings. When one sibling decides to cosy up on the couch or in Beau’s enclosure, they all follow suit. Before long, all of them are huddling close together.
There’s no doubt that this furry family love each other’s company while being adorable.
