Meet Amelia. This seven year old German Shepherd found herself wandering the streets of Los Angeles when she was abandoned by her family. She just wanted a quiet place to live out her golden years, but sadly, was forced to roam homelessly while hiding under cars for protection. She was terrified and confused, but she waited patiently for rescue.
Thankfully, Hope for Paws stepped in. When they got a call about the pup, they tried to find her. They did not want the senior dog to struggle out on the streets on her own. The rescuers spotted Amelia trembling under a car, afraid to even come out.
One of the rescuers, Lisa Arturo, tried to give the dog some food.
When the hungry dog realized the humans had treats, she slowly emerged from her hiding spot.
Arturo stood up and walked away after a while, hoping Amelia would follow. And thankfully, the pup did!
Arturo lured the old pup into a nearby yard with a gate. Once inside, Eldad Hagar, the founder of Hope for Paws, stepped in and helped secure the dog. He secured the gate behind him, so there was no way Amelia could run off.
They put a leash around the dog, but sweet Amelia didn’t object.
The dog had been through a lot, so she was a bit unwilling to go inside the rescue car.
However, after a moment of reassurance, Hagar lifted her into the vehicle himself.
Amelia was fully relaxed once inside. She was taken to the vet for a quick checkup and was then transferred to her foster home through LA Animal Rescue. Now the old pooch has plenty of room to play in, and even a few animal friends to hang out with!
Amelia has already been adopted into her forever home!
